Making Christmas Bunting

Welcome to Day 6 of Blogmas!! And... I thought that today there would be a crafty vibe, as I explain step-by-step how to make Chrismassy bunting.

What do you need?

- Material

- Ribbon

- Needle

- Thread

- Card

- Scissors

- Pencil/Pen

- Sewing Machine (optional)

Method:

1. Create a triangular template (I make mine 11.5cm accross, and 12cm tall) out of card. - Card is best as it is not as flimsy as paper, so it will be easier to draw around.

After creating your template, draw an even number of triangles on your chosen material, using a pen or pencil. (I usually draw out 18-20 triangles.)

2. Cut out the triangular shapes, and pair them up. (Make sure that the two sides of the material which will be shown on the outside of the bunting are paired up on the inside.)

3. Sew the two traingles together. This can be done by hand stitching or on the sewing machine, but it takes a lot longer by sewing the material by hand.

4. Turn all of the triangles that have been sewn together inside out.

5. Iron out the triangles to make them nice and flat. (This makes them easier to sew together on the ribbon in the next step as well!)

6. Sew all of the triangles together on a ribbon of your choice. (Some of my favourite choices of ribbons are those that are striped and plaited!)

7. Make sure the bunting is nice and tidy, and there are no loose pieces of thread. (Also, you can ensure the finish on the ribbon which is attached to the triangles is at its best, and create loops on either side, but this is an optional step that can be taken.)

And, there you have it. A completed set of Christmas bunting!

I hope you want to make your own bunting, and be sure to tag me on Instagram if you do!

See you tomorrow,
